Stone : Aquamarine
Item : #r213
Origin : Harts Ranges, Northern Territory, Australia
Clarity : Included
Availability : NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Comments : This very beautifully coloured aquamarine came from a recently discovered patch out in the Harts Ranges of Central Australia. It was found by a prospector in this remote outback country. It is a deep sea green, true aquamarine, and it has interesting very thin needle like inclusions which might possibly be growth tubes. There are also black fleck inclusions of an unknown nature. It is a very unique collector's stone from one of Australia's best fossicking areas.

Aquamarine, O'Briens Creek, Mt Surprise, North Queensland, Australia
Zoom

Stone : Aquamarine
Item : #r161
Origin : O'Briens Creek, Mt Surprise, North Queensland, Australia
Weight : Various
Clarity : Slightly Included
Availability : NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Comments : I've been asked a few times what O'Briens Creek aquamarine looks like and so here are some pics of the material. O'Briens Creek aquamarine is the holy grail of fossickers that come to gemfields here in North Queensland. It is a very hard stone to find but when found, it certainly makes your day. The colour of O'Briens Creek aquamarine, especially in larger sizes can be very well saturated and a beautiful blue / green-blue. It is often much more saturated then most of the aqua material available on the market these days, and in my opinion the deeper well saturated colours easily rival and surpass the best the world has to offer. Its just that its so hard to find. (And no, I have none for sale.)

There is a picture of a monster O'Briens Creek aquamarine that a chap found many years ago. He brought it in to find out how much it was worth!!! To be honest, we had no clue how much an aqua crystal like that would be worth. It would make a fantastic specimen but oh, there was so much gorgeous gemmy cuttable material in there... delimmas, delimmas.

There is also another beautiful gemmy crystal that was shown to us. It was about as thick as a person's thumb and though it had a few flaws around the edges, it was clean inside and it would cut a dynamite emerald cut gemstone. Alas, he wasn't selling and believe me I tried. :-) There is a pic of the aqua crystal on the veranda table... that is very very close to what the colour was like in person.

Stone : Aquamarine
Item : #r167
Origin : Brazil
Weight : 42 ct
Clarity : Very Slightly Included
Availability : NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Comments : This is a lovely aquamarine specimen and appears to be a strongly etched crystal. It's what they call a "floater" and the etching is quite interesting, especially if you are into "thumbnail" specimens. There are beautiful patterns on the surface of the stone that are facinating. The stone has good colour and I think it would cut a stunning round gemstone, probably my Antique Round 1910 design around 12-14mm. There are some fine needle like inclusions but they are minor. A nice piece of aqua!

Comments : Two fine pieces of aquamarine. One might cut an asscher around 9-11mm the other perhaps a trillion or trim in two and make a matched pair for earrings.

Comments : This is a bright clean piece of aquamarine and should cut a beautiful gemstone around 9mm in size. Would be suited for a square, rectange, barion oval, or cushion of some sort.

Stone : Aquamarine
Item : #r158
Origin : Brazil
Weight : 17.4 ct
Clarity : Eye Clean / Very Very Slightly Included
Availability : NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Comments : This is a very nice piece of aquamarine and has already been preformed. It looks to be very clean inside and I expect that it will cut an eye clean gemstone. The colour is a little more saturated and darker then #r159 but not by much (though it cost two and a half times more!). It is ideally suited for a rectangle design of some sort.

I have photographed three pieces together #r157, #r159 and this one in order to show the differences. In the last two photographs I have introduced a ring-in... this large stone is a piece of O'Briens Creek aquamarine, a very rare beast indeed.

Aquamarine, Pakistan

Stone : Aquamarine
Item : #r104
Origin : Pakistan
Weight : 42.1 ct
Clarity : Slightly Included
Availability : NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Comments : A monster aquamarine from Pakistan! I expect it to cut a very very slightly included stone... it has a very small fine black needle (black tourmaline?) and some inclusions that are common to aquamarine. Ideally a rectangular design, most probably a traditional emerald cut or perhaps a Smith Bar would suit this stone. This is a pendant stone.

Comments : A lovely big aquamarine from Pakistan. I expect it to cut an eye clean stone. I think this one I would cut into two and make a great pair of matching earring stones. This would go well with the large aqua (#r104) above.

Comments : Another lovely big aquamarine from Pakistan. I expect it to cut an eye clean stone. I think this one is a great ring stone and would perfectly match the large aqua #r104 and #r105 above. These stones would make a fabulous matching suite of stones... a large pendant, earrings and a ring. They all match in colour and size... you hardly ever find a matched suite of aquas!
