My hand would often draw and doodle these sorts of curves and arcs idly on a piece of paper while daydreaming or listening to someone on the phone. At some point it clicked that I had this beautiful pink tourmaline and this vision of it being proudly held aloft by these graceful curves and I knew that I had to draw up a design for a ring. That I did and together with the metalsmithing genius of Roberto Mattei we were able to breathe life into something that had it's spark of genesis in a daydream. On a more lighthearted note, my eyes are very much drawn to the particular styling of the shoulders of the ring. They remind me of spaulders and pauldrons which are components of a knight's plate armour that protect the shoulders. More specifically I think of those fantastical suits of armour in that game, World of Warcraft. What must I have been channeling when I designed this ring?
